Condition

This is a very nice lot. Stain and wear to petit point upholstery. The backrest would have had a décor en grisaille, which is a decorative rendition in ink. Now faded and nearly invisible. The wear and fading of upholstery is visible in the catalogue illustration. The gilt bronze mounts are well cast and gilded. Both chairs are sturdy on their legs, but the armrests have slight movement which will need to be tightened by a professional restorer. The left hand armrest of one chair will need more serious restoration, as there are cracks and splits to the wooden structure. Some bronze mounts will need to be tightened back to the carcass, which is an easy fix. The walnut frame with the usual nicks, dents and scratches.
