  • height 26 1/2 in.; diameter 23 1/2 in.
  • 67.5 cm; 60.5 cm
surmounted by later Levanto Rouge marble tops.  The bases formerly candelabras.

Condition

Set on a conforming ebonized wood base. Overall in very good condition. The bronze is very well-cast and chased. Dirt to crevices. Wear and tarnishing to gilt bronze.

The base of the present gueridons were formerly candelabras drawn after a model by Pierre Gouthière.  A virtually identical model upon which the base of this pair is based is now in the Petit Trianon, Versailles (T 495), illustrated by Verlet, op. cit., p. 99, fig. 111, where they are stated to correspond to a description by Biver concerning le Grand Salon du Jeu of Mesdames at Bellvue`un grand candélabra à dix branches, à draperie, feuillage de fruits, ....'.
