- THIS WORK IS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN AFFANDI AND THIRTY OTHER ARTISTS, EACH OF WHOM CONTRIBUTED TO THE WORK BY PAINTING THEIR OWN SELF PORTRAIT.
- Executed circa 1956.
Condition
This work is in fairly good condition overall. There is an indentation in the upper left quadrant and there are some undulation / unevenness to the surface of the painting on the middle left and middle right and watermark on the reverse. There is evidence of wear and handling around the lower edges and margins, with associated paint loss, retouching and craquelures, which have been stabilized. The craquelures occur mainly in the darker areas, but the paint layers being in a stable condition. Under ultraviolet light inspection, there are some areas of retouching in general. The colours of the actual painting are richer in reality. Framed.
