The lacquer is in good condition overall with no apparent warping. There are some indications of minor wear and handling, along with associated nicks and chips are found along the edges and corners, most notably on the upper left and right and lower right (there are also minor nicks on the sides and corners which are not apparent when viewed frontally). There is a neat hole on the reverse of the tray, presumably to facilitate hanging the tray on the wall. The minute details and different textures of the surface are more beautifully expressed in reality than in the catalogue illustration.
