The A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwork resurrects traditional watch making
techniques, typically employed in clocks and pocket watches, and never before implemented in a wristwatch. A seemingly simple digital display elegantly conceals a highly complex mechanism composed of 388 parts. The constant force escapement is cleverly used to generate the switching impulse for the jumping hour and minute displays and also to drive the balance with even power. A patented mainspring barrel delivers the immense power needed to drive the movement. Another device, the fly governor, absorbs and dissipates energy unleashed from the jumping discs when they accelerate and brake.

The Zeitwork represents the pinnacle in German horological
aesthetics and craftsmanship. Sculpted from German
silver, the time bridge indicates the hours, minutes and
seconds in a shared frame. The dial features Lange's
signature oversized date first implemented in the
Lange 1 upon its launch 15 years ago. The
Zeitwork won the L'Aiguille d'Or Grand Prize at
the 2009 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève,
demonstrating A. Lange & Söhne's
commitment to the highest standards of
horology.
