With an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1954, encased in 1961 and sale on October 12th of 1961.

The Ref. 2524 was launched in 1952, while the Ref. 2524/1, like the present example, was launched in 1955 and produced until the late 1960s.  It differs from the Ref. 2524 by its less prominent lugs.  Though the majority of this reference were produced with a subsidiary seconds dial, the present watch, bearing a simple time-only dial is one of only four 2524/1 examples known without subsidiary seconds.  According to our research, only 12-15 pieces of the Ref. 2524/1 were made, making this an extremely rare and collectable minute repeating timepiece.

The Ref. 2524 minute repeating wristwatch later inspired the 1989 classic, the Ref. 3979.  For a similar example of the Ref. 2524 and other minute repeating wristwatches, see Huber, M. & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Vol. II, Second Edition, p. 317 – 319.
