Condition

Automatic movement running and date advancing while cataloguing. Dial looks nice and clean. Case and buckle with scuffs from normal wear. It is our opinion that the case has been gently repolished and hallmarks slightly rubbed, however it is common for its age. Overall appears in good condition. **The strap of this wristwatch is made from an endangered species, please refer to important notices for further information**.

With an Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1964 and sale on December 4th of the same year.

Ref. 3445, frequently referred to as the 'Monodate', was the first calendar wristwatch produced by the company in series.  It is one of the most popular automatic wristwatches made by Patek Philippe and incorporates the legendary calibre 27-460.  This calibre is known for its efficiency and exceptional quality. To ensure that the watch is continually and smoothly wound when worn, a gold rotor is incorporated. The reason gold is chosen for the rotor is due to its gravity which is almost twice that of lead.

The production of this reference started from 1961 and ceased around 1981. According to our research, fewer than 10 examples of this reference in pink gold have appeared at auction.  Ref. 3445 is illustrated in Patek Philippe in America, Reference Guide, by J. Reardon, Vol. 1, p. 99.  For examples of this reference in yellow gold and white gold, please see lot 3839 and 3840.
