the flat-back vessel in the form of an open scroll, painted in the centre with pink and yellow peonies borne on a leafy stem springing from rockwork, framed by a flowering branch of prunus, the overturned brocade wrap of the scroll decorated in puce with a shou-character roundel amidst flying bats and clouds, all against a pink ground, the vessel with a small round mouth on the left and a semi-circular gilt-decorated mouth on the right, wood stand

Condition

The lower left corner of the vase has an area of 1 cm long retouched with overpaint. There are some flakes to the green enamels, scratches to the pink brocade, and burst air bubbles around the base.
