of slender cylindrical form, incised in low relief on the exterior with a monk seated on a carpet beside a vase, visited by a bearded scholar and his attendant, all amid pine trees and rockwork, opposite an inscribed poem Wen dao shi ('Poem on Seeking the Path') by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Ao, inscribed with the signature Dong Gao Jushi Wang Jianzhang, followed by two seals, the bamboo of a rich chestnut-brown tone

Condition

Apart from some typical age cracks along the height of the brushpot, the overall condition is very good with an attractive patina.
