François Déroche classified this script as type NS III (Manuel de Cordicologie des manuscrits en écriture arabe, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, 2000, ill.42, p.134). This kufi script is identified as round kufic (kufi mudawwar), the earliest surviving qur'an copied in vertical on parchement has a correcter note in persian saying it was corrected in 905, this suggests the possible persian origin and a date after the 10th century (Sheila S. Blair, Islamic Calligraphy, fig. 2, pp. 147-155)
