In the 1930 sales catalogue published by Dominick & Haff, it was proclaimed that the "conservatively modern" Contempora flatware and holloware designed by Eliel Saarinen expressed the "Spirit of American Life and Art." Less than five of the centerpiece bowls are known to exist, including one in the Cranbrook Art Museum.
