Our sales of Old Master Paintings have more than ever offered a rich panorama of works with a strong French identity. The year opened with the Jacques Bacri collection, including a magnificent portrait of Anne de Pisseleu, duchess d’Etampes, by Corneille de Lyon. It continued with the sale L'Elegance Intemporelle which included a beautiful set of watercolours from Carmontelle. The results obtained once again attest to the fact that the world market is looking for quality paintings that are often unseen and with old origins. The year was punctuated by magnificent masterpieces, like two compositions for the King of France at Fontainebleau by Charles-Joseph Natoire or the world record obtained for Marguerite Gérard with La Toilette de Minette. Sales of this department totalled €15 million this year.
