About the Museum
This private museum, founded in 2004, honours Frieder Burda’s phenomenal collection of nearly 1,000 works of Modern and contemporary art. Reflecting Burda’s fascination with colour and the emotional and expressive qualities of painting, the museum is particularly strong in the areas of German Expressionism and American Abstract Expressionism – with a very comprehensive selection of late Pablo Picasso paintings and contemporary German artists. Special exhibitions alternate with displays of works from the collection presented within a thematic context.
