Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

Boston, Massachusetts | United States

About the Museum

Opened to the public in 1903, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum continues its founding mission to celebrate personal connections with art. Located in an intimate Venetian-inspired palace in the heart of Boston with three floors of gorgeous galleries surrounding a flower-filled courtyard, this museum is home to more than 2,500 art objects spanning 30 centuries. Of special interest are masterpieces by Sandro Botticelli, Titian, Raphael, Rembrandt, Edgar Degas and John Singer Sargent. Supplementing this impressive permanent collection are historical and contemporary special exhibitions, an artist-in-residence programme, concerts and public events. The museum continues to grow: a new wing designed by Renzo Piano opened in 2012.
