fully marked and with discharge mark for export, the miniature watercolor on ivory, unsigned

Provenance

According to family history this box descends from John Langdon Sullivan (1777-1865) through his first marriage to Elizabeth Russell (1779-1854), daughter of Thomas Russell (1740-1796), Boston attorney.  John's father, James Sullivan (1744-1808) served as governor of Massachusetts from 1807-08.
