In 1911, Eberl moved to Paris which became central to his oeuvre. Eberl began his career drawing satirical caricatures in Munich but after moving to France was drawn to Paris’s bohemian neighbourhood, Montmartre, where he set out to capture the essence of the marginalised poor and this intriguing social environment. It was these paintings and Eberl’s sensual nudes which earnt him great recognition amongst his peers.
