The sitter was the daughter of Sir Charles William Blunt, 3rd Bt. and Elizabeth, née Peers. Engleheart's fee book records that a 'Miss E. Blunt' sat for him in 1800, and the following year she married her cousin, Sir Charles Burrell Blount of Ringmer, Sussex.
