Description

Made from lustrous celadon jade suffused with brownish-yellow colour and partly showing chicken-bone white calcification, the outer surface of this scabbard slide is decorated with two clear and precise raised ridges. According to how the archaeologist Sun Ji distinguishes among types and styles of scabbard slides, this type belongs to the double projecting edges type, for the two ends do project, and only at one end does the projection curl; see Sun Ji, “Yuju jian yu zhishi peijian fa [Jade Decorated Swords and the Way Swords were Suspended with Jade Slides]”, Kaogu [Archaeology], no. 1, 1985, p. 54, fig. 6.
