Description

Sotheby’s is proud to bring to auction the work of Aw Tee Hong, a preeminent artist of the second wave of Nanyang artists. Born in China but having spent most of his life in Malaysia and Singapore, Aw Tee Hong’s versatility in mediums – from oil, ink, watercolour, sculptures to charcoal – demonstrates the technical finesse of an artist who sought to synthesize the multitudinous cultural influences in his life to produce a stunning body of work. Ubiquitous in the Singaporean landscape, Aw’s sculptures have reached critical acclaim and can be found, among other places, in Raffles Place and the Ministry of Community and Development.
