Overall very good condition. The vase is highly sculptural and executed with dynamic asymmetry which enhances the naturalism and liveliness of the piece. The glazed surfaces are in overall very good original condition with some scattered extremely minor areas of surface irregularities inherent in the making. The glazed surfaces with some scattered traces of surface residue. The aperture of the vase with some occasional extremely minor inherent firing cracks to the crevasses where the fiddlehead tendrils extend upward from the body of the vase, the largest measuring approximately 3/4 inch. The lower body of the vase with an inherent firing crack which encircles the vase just above the point where the feet branch down and outward, visible in the catalogue illustration. The interior of the vase with some surface soiling consistent with age. Formerly in the collection of the Louis C. Tiffany Garden Museum, Japan, this lot is accompanied by its custom, velvet-lined Garden Museum box. An incredibly naturalistic, complex form and technique, formerly in the personal collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany at Laurelton Hall.
