Provenance
Hilde Gerst Gallery, New York Edgardo Acosta Gallery, Bevery Hills (sale: Sotheby's, New York, 10th April 1980, lot 69) Purchased at the above sale by the present owner
The canvas appears to be lined. Inspection under UV light reveals a thick layer of varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating. However, there is some fluorescence to the lower left quadrant, which appears to pertain to a degraded varnish layer. There are artist's pin holes to the upper corners. There are tiny spots of paint loss to the green pigment of the vase; as well as, spots of paint shrinkage to the thicker pigment. This work is in overall good condition and might benefit from a light clean.
