AN IMPERIAL CELADON JADE DAGGER AND GILT-BRONZE SCABBARD
QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD
the straight metal blade tapering to a curved pointed tip, engraved on each side with a dragon leaping from waves in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl', the pale celadon jade handle mounted at each end with gilt-bronze brackets inlaid with bands of ruby-coloured glass-paste squares and an eight-petalled floret on the pommel, the gilt-bronze scabbard pierced with an arabesque, all between bands of square glass-paste, bound with a ringed dragon-head fastener and a glass-paste floret on the locket, the chape similarly decorated with an eight-petalled floret at the terminal
