This is a characteristic example of Swiss stained glass design, probably for a heraldic roundel for a domestic setting. Although the hand of major artists such as Daniel Lindtmayer can be recognized, there were many unrecorded artists working in this form and attributions are difficult. It has been suggested that this is reminiscent of drawings attributed to Heironymous Lang, active in Schaffhausen in the second half of the 16th century.1
Nicos Dhikeos (19899-1987) moved from his native Cyprus to France, where he settled in Lyon and became Cypriot consul. He and his wife formed a large and interesting collection of Old Master Drawings, which was dispersed after his death in a number of sales.
