This May, Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Day Auction is pleased to be offering a spectacular group of works from the post-war period to today. The morning session includes pieces by the most influential artistic voices of the twentieth century, including David Hockney, Helen Frankenthaler, Ellsworth Kelly, Hans Hofmann, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. The afternoon session showcases examples by the current masters of contemporary painting, photography, and sculpture, including works by Yoshitomo Nara, Mike Kelley, Mark Tansey, Wade Guyton and Damien Hirst. Throughout the sale, we are honored to be presenting works from certain esteemed collections, including but not limited to the Blema and H. Arnold Steinberg Collection, the Levy Family Collection, the Gerald L. Lennard Foundation, the Collection of Richard E. Lang and Jane E. Davis, and the Collection of Marc Jacobs. The afternoon session will be opened by an exciting series of works sold to benefit the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. The sale also features an exemplary assortment of Latin American post-war and contemporary artists, ranging from Jesús Rafael Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez to Fernando Botero and Sergio Camargo.
