Results: Eleven new artist records were achieved in Sotheby's Masters Week sale series, led by a newly-discovered work by Sir Peter Paul Rubens and by paintings by Adam de Coster and Willem Drost, pictured at right. The week concluded with $41.9 million in sales of paintings, drawings, and sculpture.
Auction Details: The yearly sale of Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art will feature almost 200 works spanning the centuries and the majority of Europe. Old Master Paintings, an important component of Sotheby's famous Old Master Week sales, features works from the 15th through the 18th centuries. Our 19th-century section includes French, Italian, British, Dutch, German and Spanish paintings, with a selection of Sporting and Maritime pictures.
