Yayoi Kusama: Archetypes from a Spectacular Career

One of the most universally-adored artists living and working today, Yayoi Kusama's diverse oeuvre of installations, sculptures and paintings are known to and coveted by audiences around the world. In recent years, the artist has been honoured with numerous exhibitions and retrospectives, including a recent retrospective at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Israel (November 2021 - May 2022) in which Untitled (Pumpkin Sculpture) from 2007 was exhibited. Amongst works created during Kusama’s prodigious career, her Infinity Nets and Pumpkins are fundamental to her impressive practice. Sotheby’s Hong Kong is thrilled to offer an outstanding selection of Kusama’s signature paintings and sculptures, of which Untitled (Pumpkin Sculpture) from 2007 and Infinity-Nets (QPOW) from 2006 are leading highlights of the Contemporary Evening Auction on 7 October. Leading the Day Auction on 6 October, Kusama’s Pumpkin, executed in 2000, is a rare original painting of a sought-after series of prints that was released that same year.
