Sotheby’s presents a luminous and avant-garde painting by Joseph Mallord William Turner, Lake Lucerne at Dusk, circa 1842. The landscape sees the great artist return to his beloved Switzerland – a place that had transfixed him ever since he had first experienced the spectacular landscape in 1802. Lake Lucerne at Dusk is a highlight of the Old Master Drawings auction (27 January 2021, New York).
