Two influential American artists are being celebrated with exhibitions in Switzerland. The first major solo presentation in Europe for the color field painter and lyrical abstractionist, Sam Gilliam, will display the artists monumental, bold and colourfully expressive work. Running concurrently, Theaster Gates: Black Madonna, takes the sacred figure as his central theme to examine her aesthetic, political and metaphorical power.
