Assembled by an American family largely during the 1950s–60s, Hidden Harmony: An Exquisite Private Collection brings together fantastic examples of Modern sculpture from Alexander Calder a nd Henry Moore; three important works on paper from Pablo Picasso; a strong example from Jean Dubuffet’s Topography series; and fantastic stone statues from Nigeria and Costa Rica. Though spanning time, artistic movements and geographic origination, there is a clear narrative to the collection that, as with harmony in a great piece of music, connects the disparate works of art. The collection will be offered over the course of several auctions in New York, London and Paris this spring with highlights by Picasso and Calder in the Impressionist, Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sales in New York on 12 May.
