Raphael's Head of a Young Apostle, a Renaissance Drawing from the Old Masters & British Paintings Sale

Possibly the finest of the artist’s six surviving auxiliary cartoons for Raphael's last great masterpiece, The Transfiguration, which remains in the Vatican, the work sold for £29.7 million at the 5 December 2012 Old Masters & British Paintings, which achieved a total of £58 million.
