Pokémon grails spotted at Sotheby’s. Catch 'em all, including the elusive Illustrator Pikachu!
Illustrated by artist Atsuko Nishida, one of the original character designers of Pikachu for the Game Boy video games, the Illustrator Pikachu was initially awarded to first and second-place winners of a CoroCoro Comics drawing contest in January 1998. Only a handful exist in the wild.
Offered with no reserve price in the inaugural Sotheby’s x Fanatics Collect auction, these and other grails will be on view during the free public exhibition opening 23 September at the Harlem Parish in New York before the evening auction on 24 September.
