On the Road from Chatsworth to Sotheby’s: Da Vinci’s Leda and the Swan

New York | 28 June - 18 September

As Sotheby’s New York prepares to unveil Treasures from Chatsworth – a rare, public exhibition of works from the fabled Devonshire Collection of Chatsworth House, we invite you to take a look at what it takes to ship nearly fifty masterpieces across the Atlantic. In this video, meet the experts responsible for transporting highlights from the Chatsworth old master drawings collection, which includes Leonardo da Vinci’s incredible Leda and the Swan. Due to their age and sensitivity to light, these old master drawings need to be stored away three years for every three months that they are exhibited, making their appearance in an international exhibition all the more extraordinary. Free of charge and open to the public, Treasures from Chatsworth is presented by Rocco Forte Hotels and will be on view from 28 June through 18 September 2019 in Sotheby’s renovated New York galleries, located at 1334 York Avenue.
