László Moholy-Nagy: Master of the Photogram

24 March - 3 April | Online

In this Sotheby’s Story, discover the exceptional designs and experimental technique of László Moholy-Nagy, renowned Hungarian-born painter, photographer, writer, and instructor of the Bauhaus school. His photogram Umchlag Für Die Zeitschrift "Broom" was conceived of as a possible cover design for the March 1923 issue of Broom: An International Magazine of the Arts and is offered as a highlight of Sotheby’s Photographs Online sale. Blending elements of photography and typeface, this unique work is an exquisite example of what Moholy-Nagy would later refer to as a ‘typophoto’ and remains a testament to the ingenuity of its creator.
