As the art market rapidly evolves to meet collectors’ needs, Sotheby’s is launching an innovative new auction format. ‘In Confidence: Selected Masterpieces’ (Hong Kong | 15 – 23 May) is a silent auction, combining the discretion of a private sale with the dynamism of an auction. In this video, Sotheby’s Asia Chairman Nicolas Chow presents a carefully curated selection of masterworks from Chinese Works of Art and Paintings to Modern and Contemporary Art, Jewellery and whisky. Highlights include paintings by Zao Wou-Ki, Yayoi Kusama and Zhang Daqian, alongside a Burmese jadeite necklace and a Qianlong period celadon carved ‘dragon’ meiping.
Under this novel approach, absentee bids are placed and bidders will be notified if they have been outbid. Bidders will then have a final chance to submit a final offer before the sale closes. All bidding information and results will remain confidential.
