How Morris and Rita Pynoos Championed Art, Collecting & Friendship

Philanthropists, collectors and innovative art patrons, Morris and Rita Pynoos engaged closely with the artists of their time. Their friendships with Elaine de Kooning, Louise Nevelson, and especially with David Hockney, helped shape an approach to collecting based on appreciation, curiosity and respect for the artist’s creative process. As that collection comes to auction, Sotheby’s Chairman Lisa Dennison highlights a stunning selection of works by Hockney and de Kooning, each showcasing the broad spectrum of artistic experimentation in their celebrated careers. Living in Color: The Collection of Morris and Rita Pynoos will be offered during Sotheby’s May marquee auctions in New York.
