A quintessential Rococo artist, Jean-Honoré Fragonard illustrated themes of love and passion throughout his prolific and inventive career. The Fountain of Love, featured in Sotheby's Master Paintings & Sculpture Evening sale on 25 January, was executed circa 1785 as part of a series of four allegorical portrayals of love.
