Discover Jehangir Sabavala’s Ethereal Seascape

Before a hushed expanse of cliffs, sea and sky stand three hooded wanderers. Beneath them plunges a serpentine ravine, extending to a distant horizon. The figures are alone in the scene but for three sailing ships which punctuate the still waters below. A timeless seascape, suffused with gossamer luminosity, this painting from 1977 is a masterwork from what is widely considered Jehangir Sabavala’s greatest period of artistic production.
