Jan Brueghel the Elder was a pioneer of floral still-lifes in the first decade of the 17th Century. George Gordon, Co-Chairman Sotheby’s Worldwide Old Master Paintings, explains how the energy fizzing through 'Still Life of Flowers in a Stoneware Vase' defines Brueghel’s genius.
