A Life Less Ordinary: Alan "Hammer" Bloore

NEW YORK | 7 DECEMBER 2023

Alan "Hammer" Bloore, a resilient Australian sportsman and sailor, gained global admiration as a beloved watch collector despite being paralyzed from the armpits down after a boating accident in the early 2000s. Hammer never let that disability define him and proactively continued collecting the watches he loved most, through an international network of extraordinary friendships. Sotheby’s will showcase 60 watches from Bloore's esteemed collection in the Important Watches auction 7 December 2023 in New York. The collection, featuring rare Panerai and Rolex timepieces, includes highlights such as a World War II-era Panerai 3646 and a Royal Australian Navy ‘Big Crown’ Rolex Submariner. Titled ‘Hammer Time: The Collection of Alan Bloore,’ the auction pays tribute to Bloore's unwavering passion for watches, allowing new owners to appreciate the unique stories and historical significance behind each timepiece.
