Discover the 600‑year legacy of the Hosokawa clan, one of Japan’s most influential samurai families.From the Muromachi period to modern times, the Hosokawa shaped Japan through military leadership, politics, and deep patronage of the arts—including Noh theater, tea ceremony, calligraphy, and painting. The clan’s modern head, Hosokawa Morihiro, served as Japan’s Prime Minister and is an accomplished ceramic artist, continuing the family tradition. This season, we are honored to present selected classical paintings once owned by this remarkable family.
