Sotheby’s UK Shipping Information

SHIPMENT
If you wish to arrange for your own shipper to export the property or ship within the United Kingdom, VAT will be due and we will send you a replacement invoice.

As the UK is no longer part of the European Union, import duty fees are now applicable to any shipments to the EU as well as other destinations. If your property is shipped anywhere outside of the UK, import tax will have to be calculated by the custom authorities of the destination country and paid upon arrival in the country of destination. Any additional costs will be determined by the local customs and the shipper will contact you directly to process payment.

All shipments are initiated with import duties and taxes unpaid. If you have any questions on Import tax or on the procedure described above, please do not hesitate to contact

Sotheby's is collecting US sales tax if we ship to a state where it is applicable. US sales tax is not applicable if we hold a valid resale certificate for your account.

Once we have received your full payment and proceeded to the necessary checks imposed by the compliance regulations that we need to have for your account (ID and proof of address, see below), we will proceed with the shipment of your property. If your property is shipped via courier, you will receive tracking details via an automatic email notification. Alternatively if your property requires fine art shipment, our shippers will contact you directly to arrange the shipment.


COLLECTION
If you collect in person or have someone else collect your property, VAT will be due and we will send you a replacement invoice.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION OR PERMITS REQUIRED AHEAD OF COLLECTION OR SHIPMENT
Due to UK AML Legislation, we must hold valid personal ID and proof of address or company documentation as applicable for all clients with whom we transact whether they are individuals or companies. Ahead of shipment or collection, we will review the documentation we hold on file for your account and revert back to you under separate cover, if additional documentation is required.

If your purchase requires a licence prior to exportation and importation into your country, Sotheby's will apply for the licence on your behalf upon acceptance of the shipping quote and receiving full payment for your lot and shipping.
