There are few American collections of Chinese art that are as expansive and celebrated as that of Stephen Junkunc III. Containing more than 2,000 exceptional objects of Chinese porcelain, jade, bronzes, paintings and Buddhist sculpture, the collection, part of which comes to auction at Sotheby’s again on 19 March in New York, is evocative of a period during which some of the greatest Chinese treasures came to America.
