The Best Luxury Watches to Buy Now

  • Rolex, Stainless Steel Chronograph Wristwatch with Bracelet, Cosmograph Daytona, Ref 116520. Estimate $7,680–10,240 (HK$60,000-80,000).
Reference 116520 was introduced in 2000 with two versions of dial’s color. This paticular reference was the last Daytona to feature a steel bezel until the replacement with ceramic bezel in 2016. Daytona is the ultimate item for Rolex collectors, and remains a true icon among all Rolex series. Enhanced with a white dial and further distinguished with black subsidiary registers, this superb watch is in very attractive condition, accompanied by box and papers.

  • F.P. Journe, Tantalum Wristwatch, Souverain Chronometre Bleu. Estimate $10,240-15,360 (HK$80,000-120,000).
F.P. Journe first introduced the sleek and robust tantalum case with the Chronomètre Bleu. Tantalum is a beautiful and extremely strong metal with blue overtones, but is rarely seen in watchmaking due to its hardness. The Chronomètre Bleu's striking movement forms a visiual illusion, with its balance and escapement seemingly detached and beating with no apparent energy source. The connecting train is hidden under the dial, allowing the balance to stand out.

  • Rolex, Stainless Steel Dual Time Zone Wristwatch with Date and Bracelet, GMT Master, Ref 1675. Estimate $5,120-7,680 (HK$40,000-60,000).
In 1954, Rolex presented the first Rolex GMT-Master reference 6542 to Pan American Airways, who believed their pilots needed a technical wristwatch that could indicate two time zones simultaneously. The GMT-Master has been in production ever since, evolving from the reference 6542, then 1675, and finally to the current reference 126710 BLRO.

  • Rolex, Stainless Steel Wristwatch with Bracelet, Submariner, Ref 5513. Estimate $3,840-6,400 (HK$30,000-50,000).
The reference 5513 has been in Rolex’s production for nearly 28 years. Throughout that time, it has only been made in stainless steel. Also known as the “At The Top” Submariner because the word "submariner" is above the inverted depth rating text (660 ft = 200m), this 5513 ranks as Rolex's most signature models.

  • Audemars Piguet, Limited Edition Stainless Steel Dual Time Zone Wristwatch with Date, Day/Night and Power Reserve Indication, Millenary Maserati 90th Anniversary. Estimate $7,040-10,240 (HK$55,000-80,000).
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Maserati Automotive brand, Audemars Piguet introduced the Millenary Maserati 90th Anniversary model in 2004. Distinguished by its oval case, the "Millenary" features the automaker's matching colors and the Maserati Trident. The watch was limited to 900 examples and the Calibre 2329 automatic movement powers dual time zone, power reserve and date indication.

  • Patek Philippe, Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch, Nautilus, Ref 3800/1. Estiamte $17,920-38,400 (HK$140,000-300,000).
Ref. 3800 was manufactured from 1981 to 2006, with pieces in platinum created only until 2002. Designed by Gerald Genta, the Nautilus sport watch was inspired by portholes found on transatlantic sea vessels and represents one of Patek Philippe's most iconic pieces.

  • IWC, Pink Gold Perpetual Calendar Wristwatch with 7-Day Power Reserve and Moon-Phases, Portuguese. Estimate $12,800-25,600 (HK$100,000-200,000).
The iconic perpetual-calendar mechanism was designed by Mr Kurt Klaus, and was fully operated by just the crown, without the help of pushers at the bands. All the functions are fully in sync, including the date, day, month, digital year and moon-phases. This watch is a wonderful sample of one of the most iconic IWC series – Portuguese with caliber 50611 automatic movement and pink gold case.
