Those who have been coming to Art Basel in Miami Beach since the fair (b. 2001) was a new event on the art calendar, will recall those early Uber-free days as less frenzied (slightly), maybe even relaxing (a little). A bit of that spirit was evoked the afternoon of 29 November, when Lisa Dennison and Amy Cappellazzo of Sotheby’s hosted an al fresco lunch at the Mandolin Aegean Bistro to celebrate Art Basel with a Mediterranean feast. Some guests had come directly from a hardhat tour of the Institute of Contemporary Art’s new home, under construction just down the street (the museum, designed by Aranguren & Gallegos Arquitectos, is scheduled to open ahead of the 2017 fair). Among those enjoying the Mandolin’s shady patio were Jeffrey Deitch, Beth Greenacre, Kim Heirston, RoseLee Goldberg, Hyon Gyon, Job Piston and Larry Warsh. Click ahead for images from the afternoon.
