The evening of 13 March, hours before a winter storm was forecast to close down New York City, friends and collectors gathered at the Whitney Museum of American Art for a first look at the 2017 Biennial. Hosted by Sotheby’s and Whitney director Adam Weinberg, the tour was also attended by the Biennial’s two young curators, Mia Locks and Christopher Y Lew, who spoke informally with guests about the works in their highly anticipated show. The viewing was followed by dinner under a canopy of tulips in a dramatically lit space with views of the Hudson River. Click ahead for images from the evening.
