Revlon Creative Director Ruba Abu-Nimah is a passionate image maker and collector. She wholeheartedly believes that even when shooting an $8 lipstick, artistry is essential, as is fearless experimentation, such as that honed by greats like Penn and Newton who elevated fashion photography into the realm of fine art. “It’s emotional to see the work I’ve been looking at for the last 30 years have a real art value to it,” the New York-based Creative Director, also influenced by punk and magazines like i-D and The Face, told Sotheby’s. “But then I’m like, why would you ever sell this? I would never sell this!” Ahead, discover which works Abu-Nimah covets most from Sotheby’s Photographs auction. –Stephanie Sporn
