Visitors gathered at Sotheby’s S|2 Gallery’s in Hong Kong to witness the doodle invasion that was to begin Thursday night in partnership with American Express Centurion. The evening kicked off with a few words by Gallery Director Jonathon Wong introducing Mr Doodle, the artist responsible for the playful interpretations of iconic masterworks from art history now adorning the walls of the gallery: Arnolfini Doodle, Mona Doodle, Vitruvian Doodle, Whistler’s Doodle, and more. The mood was lighthearted as guests witnessed an impromptu live performance of OCD, which stands for “Obsessive Compulsive Drawing” in the words of the artist. The canvas that was blank at the start of the evening was soon covered with Mr Doodle’s signature graffiti and oddball characters.
