Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant in Miami’s historic Overtown neighborhood doesn’t open to the public until 2018, but on 5 December, guests of Sotheby’s enjoyed lunch prepared by the famed Red Rooster chef and a preview of the space. Hosted by Sotheby’s chairmen Amy Cappellazzo and Lisa Dennison in partnership with Sotheby’s International Realty The Woolworth Tower Residences and Sentient Jet, the outdoor gathering celebrated the beginning of Miami Art Week and Art Basel’s Miami Beach fair and included a viewing of an exhibition contemporary art from the African Diaspora curated by Neil Hall. Samuelsson was on hand to chat about signature dishes such as chicken and waffles, short ribs and red velvet cake. Guests went home with Sentient Jet gift bags and specially decorated Woolworth cookies from Sotheby's International Realty. Click ahead for images from the afternoon.
