On 15 September, Leonardo DiCaprio and Emerson Collective founder and president Laurene Powell welcomed a star-studded lineup of artists and celebrities, including Naomi Campbell, Mark Ruffalo and Catherine Deneuve, to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) 20th Anniversary Celebration Auction. “Since 1998, we have supported over 200 projects on every continent and in every ocean from habitat and species conservation, renewable energy, climate change, indigenous rights and more,” said DiCaprio, who also announced $11 million in new grants, bringing LDF’s total financial impact to more than $100 million. In addition to an auction, curated by Lisa Schiff and Marika Kielland of SFA Advisory and led by Sotheby’s Simon Shaw, LDF gave out three inaugural awards to Arne Glimcher, Amazon Frontlines and Ceibo Alliance, and Wayne Thiebaud, whose Mountain Split achieved $4.5 million that evening. The night also featured a special performance by Chris Martin of Coldplay. Click ahead for an inside look. –Stephanie Sporn
