The Beijing to Istanbul online sale, which is open for bidding until Monday at 3.00 PM GMT, brings together a collection of treasures that span the fabled trade routes which ran from the Far East through to Europe. There’s a final opportunity to see highlights from the sale in an exhibition at Sotheby’s New Bond Street which is open this weekend and on Monday until 3.00 PM. Chinese highlights include a vibrant turquoise Kangxi vase while the Indian section includes a charming silver coffee percolator, silvered ‘magic’ bowl and clover leaf box. Rugs and carpets featured include a torba from Turkmenistan and Persian Heriz carpet and there are also Anatolian kilims ranging from the 17th to 19th century.
